Am I the only person that thinks of September as that month we have to get through before the holiday season starts? The minute the weather starts to cool, all I want to do is get some spiced apple cider simmering on the stove while I spookify our house for Halloween. This year I found these great Halloween printables that made switching up my decor a breeze.

The amount of decor we actually put up for halloween varies year by year. But I always try to do something because halloween is just so much fun! When else do we get to dress up as someone completely different and walk around in public without anyone batting an eyelash?

As fun as holidays are, they can be a lot of work and can cost a lot of money. This year, we are really focused on paying down our credit card debt and saving up to cash flow our trip to Singapore later this year. And with a toddler running around, that means we are also short on time.

This year, I’m all about the quick, easy, and cheap Halloween decor. Free printable art checks all three of those boxes.

There are a couple of places in the house where I have sets of frames with coordinating art inside. These picture frames make it really easy to switch up the decor in the house without spending a lot of time or money. And they make it easy to minimize clutter because you can store several sheets of art right there in the frame!

For Halloween, I wanted to go with some creepy art above our fireplace in the dining room. I didn’t want it to be too scary because of said aforementioned toddler. But I also didn’t want it to be cartoonish either.

These printable skulls fit the bill perfectly.

They are just the right amount of creeptastic without being over the top scary. And the best part about it is that they are free!

Like most of my printable art, I printed these out using regular old printer paper and my five year-old printer. You do not need to get fancy with this. Some of the printable images were yellowed, which gives them a nice aged look. But since I wanted the three images to be uniform, I printed them in black and white.

I’m saving up all of my color ink for these zombified family portraits. I’ll be sharing the tutorial for them next week.

I used three different prints for my three frames. But you could also use three of the same one if you’d like. Feel free to adjust the size of the prints to your liking. I didn’t like how small the skull was at first so I printed it out at 130%.

I purchased the black and white frames from Michaels two years ago when they were on sale. But you can find similar ones at IKEA or on Amazon here.

Once you’ve printed your art, it’s as simple as opening the frame, replacing the previous artwork with your new, scary prints, and replacing the frame.

I increased the fear factor of these printables by adding a few plastic rats and some tree branches from out in the yard.
